Seattle Coffee Works (and Ballard Coffee Works) is a place to experience and experiment with coffee in its richly diverse forms and varieties. Wine connoisseurs have long had tasting rooms; beer afficionadoes have brew pubs; chocolate fanatics can sample chocolate almost anywhere. 

Now all of us who love coffee in its many forms have a dedicated tasting room in the middle of the coffee capital of the world.

The Express Bar

We have divided our cafe into two sections. 

At our Express Bar, you can order standard-setting espresso drinks and regular coffee made using a press pot. While we might never achieve the speed-of-service of a large international fast-food chain, the Express Bar allows you to use our cafe as a regular coffee house.

You can arrange for a business meeting here, enjoy free wifi, choose from a small selection of pastries and savory foods, or simply get a cup of coffee on the go. We often hear from our customers it's the best cup of coffee they have ever had.

The Slow Bar: Our Tasting Room

The slow bar is a place to explore our passion for coffee and deepen our sense of discovery. We have set out to make coffee tasting an intriguing and dignified experience.

You'll know you have arrived at the Slow Bar when you see the map of the world's coffee belt, a wide variety of coffee-making equipment, and a vast selection of single-origin coffees from all four coffee-growing regions around the world.

Come here to taste coffee varietals, test different methods of extraction, meet fellow coffee geeks, or celebrate a special occasion with a prized cup of coffee. This is a place to indulge your sense of curiosity and revel in the spirit of inquiry. There's so much more to coffee than meets the eye, and the best coffees and blends are yet to be developed. Our Slow Bar is open during all our regular opening hours. No reservations are needed. For the best experience, we encourage you to come outside our normal morning rush hour (8am to 10am weekdays.)
