COFFEE APPRENTICE

Our on-the-job Coffee Apprentice Program is the career track to become a Coffee Bar Professional. The Coffee Apprentice Program includes:

Education and Training: Extensive initial and on-going training in all coffee brew methods, cupping, scoring coffee, the Espresso Bar and Slow Bar service (Aeropress, Chemex, Hario V-60, Kalita, Vacuum Pot). You will have the opportunity to learn about the coffee value chain from farm to cup in our coffee lab with state-of-the-art tools.

Excellent Coffee and Equipment: A lineup of outstanding espresso blends and super- premium single-origin coffees, as well as state-of-the-art equipment is available in the cafes and training lab.

      ROASTERY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

      The mission of the Roastery Operations Specialist is to enable outstanding coffee experiences by expediting freshly roasted artisan coffee to our cafe, mail-order, and wholesale customers in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

      Status: Hourly, full-time.

      Wage: $19 per-hour starting wage with an opportunity for a raise after three months on the job.

      Number of Hours per week: 30-35

      Key Responsibilities
      • ORDER FULFILLMENT -- print bag labels, prepare bags and bagging equipment, weigh and bag coffee for mail orders and stores, request additional bagging help as necessary. Prepare USPS labels and packaging for mail orders, receive and close-out online orders, and deliver coffee to store and shipping carriers. Re-order supplies and maintain bagging equipment, including conducting annual scales inspection.
      • ROASTERY STORE -- participate in managing the roastery commissary to fulfill in-store and mail-order demand for freshly roasted coffee. Fulfill inventory orders and manage mail order/online sales.
      • GENERAL STORE – participate in managing general store to supply cafes with retail items for re-sale and supply items. Fulfill inventory requests from café managers; create sleek and beautiful displays for retail items maintaining SCW standards and guidelines.
      • CUSTOMER SERVICE -- Provide customer service and troubleshooting for mail orders and coffee orders from the cafés. Manage café inventory of retail and production coffees, supplies, and optimize margins and reduce waste.
      • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT -- stay abreast of café and mail order demand, industry trends, and competition. Work with mail order team and store managers to grow sales. Highlight opportunities for streamlining fulfillment operations and providing excellent customer service.
      • DELIVERY DRIVING -- Deliver all products to cafés, including but not limited to: production coffee, retail coffee, retail merchandise, and all café supplies. Responsible for quality control in the cafés for maintaining neat, clean, and organized displays, ensure proper FIFO for all perishable items, and responsible for weekly café inventory.

      Requirements
      • Good physical condition and ability to safely lift up to 60 lbs.
      • Valid WA Driver's license required (with clean driving record)
      • Experience in retail fulfillment and merchandising preferred
      • Must be available Mondays to Fridays between 6am and 6pm

      Qualifications
      • Excellent attention to detail required

      • Excellent visual presentation skills
      • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Google cloud services and online shopping carts preferred
      • High School Degree or equivalent required
      • Experience in retail merchandising and fulfillment preferred

      MARKETING INTERN

      Seattle Coffee Works seeks an intern to grow the company’s marketing efforts. This is a part-time, paid summer internship, with a possibility to extend the timeframe.

       20 hrs per week, June through August 2021
       Requires one 2-hour in person meeting per week
       $20/hr

      Responsibilities
      Complete graphic design, formatting, and content for digital and print communications
      and collateral
       Complete physical marketing collateral including package design
       Communicate with team members
       Organize, schedule, create, and report on emails, social media postings, mailings,
      collateral
       May require some appearances on camera/video
      May include communication with customers or media
       May include taking photos or videos

      Qualifications
       Excellent communication skills (in person and online)
      Attention to detail and highly organized
      Digital communications degree or equivalent experience
      Storytelling and public speaking ability is a plus
      Graphic design skills/experience desired
      Ability to travel to cafes, roastery
      Proficiency in written and spoken English
      Interest or background in coffee desired
      Team player
