The Mahiga factory is supported by 400 contributing farmers in the famous Nyeri region of Kenya. The factory is responsible for processing and drying the ripe coffee cherries, as well as providing valuable feedback and training to the farmers.
In addition to careful handling, what gives this coffee its uniquely bright flavor is the mineral-rich volcanic soil that predominates in the region around Mount Kenya. If you're looking to expand your palette, Mahiga is a prime example of a coffee where the terroir really shines through.
Daniel Kingori, whom we know well from his role managing the nearby Rukira factory, is now managing the Mahiga factory. We are so pleased to work with such a quality-oriented team of people who are growing, harvesting, sorting, washing, and drying this stand-out coffee!
